A few years ago I had a bit of a situation when I was driving east in a pick-up camper. I was boondocking overnight at a casino one evening in Reno, NV. This man driving a wrecker came on to me pretty strongly and kept insisting on having a drink with me in my "camper". I said no but remained cordial & pretended my "husband' was due back any second. The only irritating thing was that I had planned to go into the casino for a bite to eat but I didn't feel comfortable with leaving the camper at that point. Other than that I have never really been that concerned. Always careful but not scared or concerned.

I think now that I am a bit older (51) I don't see it as much of an issue anymore. I have found in times past when I was boondocking that the men in trucks & people in RVs etcetera were more protective over me than anything else. It kind of makes you feel good to know that most people really are good hearted! Smile

I do stronly advise that anyone (and multiplied if boondocking), and I do have to say especially women, are always aware of their surroundings and follow their gut instincts. My 2 cents... Smile

You have some good advice Brenda in your article about Vandwelling:

I hope it is a good thing that so far there have been no replies to this post. I'm hoping that means that so far few women have faced any issues of concern. Smile

hi, I just said hello on Intros page...

yes thanks for this, I think it's very relevent and hope it will stay open as an option for discussion at least; am 34 and plan to go solo, since I've yet to find the man-thing o' my dreams who'd be into such a lifestyle... though I'm sure he's out there Wink

I too hoped low response is good thing, and good point about the # of views; if I ever find myself cooped up in my van due to waiting out an unsafe vibe, for instance and in light of Blessed's story, I'd like to be able to vent about it here and/or get support (Outsiders would probably jump to the conclusion "well, maybe you shouldn't live in a van then!")
